Silver Award Success
Following the hard work of the Eco Multi-Stage Group, the Eco Committee and the whole school community we have now achieved our Eco Schools Scotland Silver Award. We are very proud and we are now working extremely hard to upgrade this to Green flag status.
Have a look at http Eco Schools Scotland for more details of how we can achieve this.
Parent Committee Member
We welcome our new parent member Mrs Beer onto our Eco Committee.
Our online Eco application was a great success with over 70 applications from pupils, staff and parents. It was very diffiucult to choose the committee as the standard of applicants was so high! However, those who were not appointed to the committee know they will still have opportunities to become involved in Eco activities as we are very keen on a whole school approaches.
An article written by Isabella, Francesca, Olivia, Abbey, Lucy and Phoebe has been published in the New Leaf News .
We are very proud to see our pupils gain success in the publishing world! Not only are they fabulous authors but they also know all about the Eco activities in school.
Have a look at the article which is on page 3 of the Winter Edition of New Leaf News in http://www.cgiscotland.org/page/CGINewsletters.html
Thank you to Jessica our partner in Litter! Everyone who attended the free Wombles cinema event enjoyed the film and the Eco activities. Many thanks for the hard work in organising this event and funding the tickets and free bus. Also a big thank you to Primary One pupils who are now super Litter champions!
We have planted our orchard!
We have been busy with our Zero Waste Scotland Project.
We are taking part in the Zero Waste Scotland Project and as part of the litter education message, Jessica, our Litter Education Officer has funding to send some P1’s and P2’s to see the Wombles film at the Bo’ness Hippodrome on 2nd Feb.
As it’s a Saturday, free transport to and from the film will be provided for Carmuirs and St Bernadette’s (Fitzcharles Bus Company).
There will be a fun opening activity and hopefully a press opportunity from the Falkirk Herald. The story will also run in Education Matters and the Falkirk Council News.
There are 15 pairs of tickets available. Each pupil must be accompanied by an adult. We will put all ticket requests in a raffle and communicate to the lucky pupils on 25th January.
Tickets are also available for purchase at the door on the day.
